Mika's view on Lady Gaga.
  • Romeo: I went onto Wikipedia and it says you're now a personal friend of Ms. Gaga, is that correct?
  • Mika: Ah yeah, yeah I've known her for a bit. I, I really like her. She used to come to my shows in New York, years ago. She's ace, she really is, when you get to know her she's fantastic. She's extremely intelligent, and very with it in every single way. She totally is her own creation, and credit to her, it's fantastic.
  • Romeo: Is she as crazy on a, as a personal level, you've known her for a couple of years, is she as crazy on a one to one personal basis as she is-
  • Mika: You mean when she talks?
  • Romeo: Yeah.
  • Mika: In conversation?
  • Romeo: Uh huh.
  • Mika: No, totally totally, normal. Extremely bright, you're sitting there just talking to someone who's very bright and very talented. The only thing is, she's wearing ridiculous clothes that you can either hate or find totally amazing. I think they're great. But yeah, she always dresses like that, always always always. She is Lady Gaga, she's not Stefani. There's a big difference, like she'll explain that to you, and at first you're like "Oh God that's a bit pretentious." And then you get it, she's created herself, because, no one wanted anything to do with her. So she created a whole world around herself, and look what it's done! I think it's kind of inspiring. If I was 15 and looking at the pop scene, I'd be looking at her thinking "Oh God" you know? You know, that whole thing. If you're putting out your demo's and you think "One day, I'll be like David Bowie." Well don't just say you'll be like David Bowie, go out and be like that! Even if no one thinks you have the right to, do you know what I mean? Create your own world around you, because you can if you want to. And that's actually some of the best advice as a young performer. Don't wait until it's too late because no one will care, do it before anyone cares and that's how you'll get them to care in the first place.
